Why Block Unwanted Emails?

Blocking unwanted emails is essential for seniors to avoid spam, scams, and eliminate frustration. With countless spam emails flooding inboxes daily, it’s important to know how to minimize these interruptions. Here’s how to block email addresses on some of the most common email platforms.

Steps to Block Emails on Popular Services

1. Gmail (Google Mail)
Open the unwanted email. Click the three vertical dots (more) at the top right of the message. Select Block [Sender Name], and confirm by clicking block. Going forward, messages from that sender will go directly to the spam folder.

2. Outlook / Hotmail / Live.com
Open the email and click the three dots (…) at the top right. Choose Block → Block Sender, then confirm. The email is deleted, and future emails will be sent to junk.

3. Yahoo Mail
Open the email and click the three dots (…) above the email. Select Block Sender. You can check also delete all existing emails from this sender if you wish, and click OK.

Additional Tips for Seniors

If the blocking process seems confusing, marking an email as spam or junk is a great alternative. This action teaches the email service to filter similar emails automatically. Caution is key—never click “unsubscribe” in suspicious emails as it may confirm that the address is active. Remember to keep a written guide of these steps for easy reference!
